Fading Trails

Fading Trails removes dark regions from a moving image, adjusts the surviving colour, and accumulates it over time.

The demo producer is Motion sample — replace with camera or video. It accepts an image, video, image sequence, or camera. Motion against a dark background gives the cleanest trail.

  • Retention per second controls how long previous imagery remains.
  • Source injection controls how strongly the current frame enters history.
  • Clear history resets the retained image.

Choose File → Append Project…, find Fading Trails, and choose Choose layers to append. Select the reusable Fading Trails layer. In Connect sources, map its layer source to an existing compatible layer, or choose Include original source to bring the demo producer. Then choose Add layers. All layers + original sources imports the complete demonstration.

Remove dark background and Color Adjust prepare the live image; Temporal Accumulate retains it. Read Feedback for retention, injection, and clearing.
